Listen to the silence
There is a moment of sacred silence in nature, when all life seems to hold its breath. This is the moment that transcends the dark of the night and the calling of the dawn.
The night creatures have stopped their prowling, disappearing into lairs before the sun reveals its glory. The birds remain cocooned in their nests, safe in the darkness.
This time of the year is similar to that sacred silence. The darkness of winter is holding onto her receding grip. The trees are waiting for a few expectant moments before revealing the beauty of their blossoms.
Just as the coming dawn lets forth a chorus of birds, the coming of spring will open up a profusion of life and colour.
It is significant that I have chosen this time of the year to start writing about eco-psychology. Eco-psychology is about transcendence. It is about our lives mirroring the changes in nature. Constantly moving, creating, growing and dying in a sacred cycle.
I am inviting you all to join me. Listen to the silence and let us wait for the music of the dawn.
